Cancer Is There a CURE

What is all this with the "drug companies will withhold cures" BS? Do people who say that even understand biomedical research? Do they not know that virtually every large university in the world that does biomedical research has cancer researchers who have nothing to do with the pharmaceuticals? Or that these researchers are funded by the universities themselves, competitive grants made by government agencies or charities such as the Cancer Society, to the tune of billions of dollars a year? Do they not get that any research these investigators complete is published in peer reviewed scientific journals and the information then disseminated around the world?

Seriously, if any research leads to a new treatment or even cure, if a big pharma didn't want to pick it up (though I cannot imagine for a second why they wouldn't, given the billions upon billions of dollars they would make) there is nothing what so ever to stop most university based cancer researchers from seeking out private investors and creating a startup company. This sort of thing happens all the time, and believe me, if someone out there came up with a cure for any sort of cancer (it's actually about 200 different diseases lumped under one name) there would be people jumping at the chance to throw money at it.

So yeah, I'm sorry to have to say it but all you pharma-hating conspiracy theorists out there are really just this shy of joining the tinfoil hat brigade on stuff like this.
